For over 15 years, Beccy Shoesmith has led creative economy development across diverse regions, including the Middle East, East Asia, Latin America, and Central Asia. She specialises in overcoming cultural, social, and political challenges, working with governments and communities to foster sustainable and inclusive growth.

Beccy has successfully led initiatives such as breaking down distrust between creative practitioners and government in Mexico, developing creative entrepreneurship training in Egypt, and supporting creative hubs in Vietnam. She is skilled at creating safe spaces for collaboration and letting diverse voices be heard.

Previously leading the British Council’s Creative Economy team, Beccy has worked with numerous international organisations and governments, advocating for creative economy policy as a means of stimulating growth and promoting livelihoods.
