Governance, Leadership and Organisational Review
Buxton Civic Association
Cultural Associates Oxford (CAO) was commissioned by Buxton Civic Association (BCA) to conduct a comprehensive review of their governance, leadership, and organisational structure.
This project, part of a broader NLHF-funded programme, aimed to enhance BCA's resilience and adapt to changes in its operating context and leadership.
The review focused on: maximising membership engagement; transitioning governance to integrate the BCA’s new CEO and organisational structure; ensuring compliance with charity guidance and new legislation; and developing a future-focused strategy for BCA's success.
CAO undertook a documentation review to analyse existing governance and operational structures, which was complemented with a series of in-person workshops with staff and trustees to gather insights and test ideas, and a one-to-one interviews with key stakeholders.
As a result of CAO's work, BCA agreed to significant changes in its governance structure and has begun to look at implementing the recommendations and developing a new strategic plan.
