Business Recovery Plan
Creswell Heritage Trust
Creswell Heritage Trust manages Creswell Crags on the border of Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire, an important natural landscape and historic site.
The site is complex, including both caves and a museum, as well as extensive landscape which includes both an SSSI and a Scheduled Ancient Monument
CAO supported the development of a Business Recovery Plan to ensure the site’s long-term financial sustainability.
CAO worked closely with the board and staff team to gain an in-depth understanding of the site, undertaking significant research and consultation work which included consideration of land usage, leasing arrangements as well as the opportunities and challenges of managing a diverse and complex natural landscape and heritage site.
The review was completed in January 2024 and included providing one-to-one support for board members, identifying new organisational structures and a new staffing model, and examining the business model and ways of maximising income from cave tours while continuing to provide free access to the landscape. CHT was in receipt of funding from both ACE and NLHF and our work included building strong and positive relationships with both funders.
