Maurice Davies is a cultural consultant who leads, supports and develops museums, arts & heritage organisations and the people who work for them to increase their effectiveness. He is a recognised sector leader and an effective communicator. For some 40 years he’s been working with and advising museums, galleries and cultural and heritage organisations - and researching, writing and talking about them, in the UK and overseas.

Maurice has consulted for many museums and heritage organisations from large nationals to local authority-run organisations and small volunteer-run local museums. He's formally advised government ministers, House of Commons committees, national and regional public agencies, and trusts and foundations. He’s currently a member of the National Trust Collections and Interpretation Advisory Group.

His passion is getting people to be more thoughtful about what they do: to take the time to think carefully and strategically before acting. He’s a skilled facilitator and mentor, with an enthusiastic and inclusive approach. He's run many professional workshops throughout the UK and given keynotes at conferences throughout Europe, in North America and in Southern Africa. He’s taught on cultural leadership and other programmes in the UK, Europe and the Middle East.

Maurice has been Head of Collections at the Royal Academy of Arts, Deputy Director of the Museums Association, Editor of Museums Journal, Assistant Keeper of Fine Art at Manchester Art Gallery, a Turner Scholar at Tate, a Visiting Professor at Nottingham Trent University, a Senior Fellow at King’s College London Business School and a Lecturer at Imperial College.
