Miranda Millward is an artist and arts educator/facilitator. Having initially trained in Fine Art at The Ruskin School of Art, Oxford University. Miranda has over 20 years experience working with young people and cultural organisations. For 15 years Miranda ran her own consultancy working with organisations such as Tate Liverpool, Tate Britain, engage, Oxford University, Oxford Brookes, Modern Art Oxford and Creative Partnerships.

Creativity, relationships and collaboration are key to Miranda’s practice as an artist and facilitator.  Human relationships are key because when people are supported by strong mutual relationships, where they feel valued for themselves, powerful and enduring change can happen. By using co-curation and creativity as key approaches individuals’ capacity and capability can be built ienabling them to participate fully and contribute their own experience and narratives.

As an experienced project manager Miranda is currently working for the Oxford University Gardens, Libraries and Museums. Miranda’s focus is on building person-centred relationships with young people with special educational needs and disabilities including those with social, emotional and mental health issues in order that cultural organisations can better meet their needs.

As a museum specialist it is no surprise Miranda’s artwork reflects on the past. Nostalgia, serendipity, memory and the passing of time are key themes. The ability to re-look at and re-imagine the familiar is essential. Creative play and reflection enable all of us to better understand ourselves, make connections and make sense of our lives in an often hectic world.
