Vanessa Moore is a project manager and programme coordinator with ten years professional experience of delivery across a broad range of cultural and heritage organisations including museums, galleries, libraries, historic houses and gardens.
Vanessa is passionate about the organisation and communication of ideas. She draws on her broad experience in interpretation, exhibition development, event facilitation, and research and evaluation to find creative solutions to complex problems.
At the University of Oxford, Vanessa worked on numerous leadership initiatives for the cultural and heritage sectors. She was the logistical and administrative coordinator for the internationally renowned Oxford Cultural Leaders programme, overseeing the delivery of the 2018 and 2019 programmes, and was the initiator and designer of the Supporting Leadership project, a nationwide consultation and evaluation project looking at the role of administrative support staff in the cultural sector. She is the lead author of the Supporting Leadership Report which presents the consultation findings and puts forward recommendations and resources to help improve practices in this field of work.
Alongside and prior to this, Vanessa worked in a variety of different public engagement roles. She began her career in exhibitions, contributing to major capital projects – working for the Science Museum on the redevelopment of the Information Age gallery and working for the British Museum on the planning of the Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi – and leading on smaller scale transformations – piloting and developing new public engagement initiatives for the Royal Horticultural Society Libraries. In 2017 she joined the University of Oxford, furthering her interest in exploring the intersection between the academic and cultural sectors through her work on the University’s pioneering and award-winning National Trust Partnership and on the Museum of Natural History’s celebrated Contemporary Science and Society exhibition series.
Vanessa is a graphic designer by training, specialising in information graphics and data visualisation. She undertakes independent projects and brings her skills to bear on all aspects of her work.
